What does vacuum testing of the valve body reveal?+
Vacuum testing helps identify internal leakage caused by wear by assessing the sealing ability between valves and their bores. We use the method demonstrated by Sonnax, with a US-imported vacuum pump of the same type as the one in the demonstration. We interpret readings for the specific test point and calibrated setup. The method also supports checks after a repair; we discuss the appropriate inspection based on the transmission’s condition.
Does the transmission need an oil change or rebuilding?+
The transmission’s condition determines this. We investigate jerking, slipping or delayed shifts using diagnostics and the available condition data. A transmission oil change does not replace repairs that are already needed; we discuss the appropriate work after inspection.
Which automatic transmissions do you rebuild?+
We rebuild every type in the ZF 6HP and ZF 8HP transmission families. Preparation requires precise identification of the installed transmission, using vehicle details, the VIN and the transmission identification plate.
Which oil and parts do you use?+
For 8 years, we have used exclusively ZF oils, filters and seals to service ZF transmissions. We select the oil and parts to the specifications for the particular transmission type.
What does the rebuilding documentation include?+
We prepare an itemised estimate for rebuilding. The work is documented in a report that also records clutch clearances measured before and after rebuilding. We adjust them using repair manuals published by ZF.
How much does automatic transmission rebuilding cost?+
The cost depends on the exact transmission type, its condition and the work required. When requesting an estimate, provide the vehicle model, year, mileage, VIN and fault symptoms. We prepare an itemised estimate for rebuilding.
When is a ZF transmission oil change due?+
Transmission type, use and applicable manufacturer documentation all matter. Earlier 6HP28 and 8HP45 manuals give different mileage and age figures. ZF’s current TE-ML 11 guidance recommends an oil change after 150,000 kilometres, or earlier with higher loads or unknown prior use. Let’s discuss the details of your car.
