What is AOS?
The Aftersales Online System is BMW Group’s online system for independent workshops and repair businesses. It provides vehicle information and manufacturer applications to support maintenance, diagnostics and repairs.
BMW’s own introduction explains the system’s role, from service requirements read from the key to parts identification. The associated partslink24 service can link parts identification and ordering. [1]
How does it support the workshop?
Vehicle data and key reading
Reviewing key data, vehicle identifiers and maintenance requirements helps with service reception.
Manufacturer repair information
The AIR information system provides repair instructions, wiring diagrams, parts and vehicle information.
Online ISTA diagnostics
Vehicle identification, fault finding, service functions and programming of supported vehicles with suitable equipment and access.
Digital service history
Maintenance entries can be recorded in BMW’s central system and a completion certificate printed.
Technical campaigns
Checking available manufacturer campaigns assigned to the vehicle helps us inform the customer.
Parts identification
Manufacturer parts information and available catalogue links help identify genuine parts suitable for the vehicle.
How we use it at Six-In-Line
We start by reading the key, display the available data in BMW’s system and check open manufacturer campaigns. We also transfer mileage, CBS maintenance data and the available software integration level to our own SIL system .
After the work, we document maintenance in BMW’s service history. For other repairs, the Repair History entry also lists genuine parts used. Our work orders, photos, labour records and invoices remain retrievable in SIL’s vehicle history.
Central record and the vehicle display
A service entry in BMW’s central system and its appearance on the vehicle display may be separate steps. BMW’s guide states that supported vehicles may require a further data transfer for onboard display; not all models support this. [2]
What does AOS access mean?
Six-In-Line Kft. is an independent BMW specialist workshop. AOS provides access to manufacturer information and applications; it does not in itself confer authorised BMW service centre status.
We also service new cars professionally, following the applicable manufacturer requirements. Choosing an independent workshop does not in itself justify loss of the manufacturer warranty; compliance with maintenance requirements and the circumstances of the case also matter when a claim is assessed. An online entry alone does not guarantee warranty coverage. [3]
